Just a quick post to wish everyone a happy and joyous July 4th holiday, ideally at your favorite beach. No better time to be at the beach than the weekend that is widely considered the real kickoff summer in much of the country. However, as we head into this holiday weekend, just wanted to include this article on sunscreen for people to consider. With both Hawaii and Key West initiating sunscreen bans at the start of 2021, ~1.5 years away, it's time we start looking at sunscreens, their benefits and their hazards in greater detail.
And to close on an extremely positive note, I thought it was worth sharing a discovery I made earlier this week that the decade from 2021 to 2030 has been declared the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. While something of this nature seems long overdue, at least the planning is underway and letting people know about this early and often is something we can help with so expect to see more on this in future blog posts. Time for everyone to pitch in to help better understand and more effectively manage this amazing resource that sustains life on this planet.
Have a great 4th!
